This was one of those platform moments that looked better in my head than it does once it’s frozen into pixels. I’d like to pretend the doorway was a deliberate compositional choice — a clever “frame within a frame” thing — but really it’s just the train getting in the way while I tried to take the shot before the doors beeped at me.
The woman in the red beret should be the star here, but the film poster behind her absolutely steals the show. It’s so loud and self-important it turns the people on the platform into background players in its own drama. And because I didn’t shift my angle even a few inches, she’s stuck walking across a muddle of colours, text and faces that all want attention at once.
It’s not a bad photo, exactly — just one where you can see the missed potential. The moment was there; I just didn’t quite manage to catch it cleanly before the train whisked me off.
