Trying to take photos every day

Dark Path

Some photos happen because the phone wobbled at exactly the wrong moment, and every now and then those mistakes turn into something more interesting than the shot you meant to take. This was just a wet evening walk down a narrow cut-through, but the long exposure shook itself into something far moodier. The whole scene looks like it’s been run through a faulty memory—half alleyway, half after-image.

I like how the streetlamp at the top pulls the eye forward, even though the lines are all bent out of shape. Everything here is vibrating, like the world was in a hurry and the shutter wasn’t. The figure in the centre—hood up, bag in hand—ends up looking strangely calm despite being made entirely of motion blur.

Nothing profound happened; it was just one of those in-between journeys where you’re mostly thinking about getting home and staying dry. But the photo caught a different version of the moment—slippery, restless and a little cinematic, as if the night itself was doing the editing for me.
